The radical Islamist Taliban are now legal in Russia. A judge decided that. The group has been on the Russian terrorist list since 2003.

In Russia, the Islamist Taliban are now legal after taking power in Afghanistan. The Supreme Court in Russia raised the classification of the movement as extremist. “The decision to suspend the Taliban’s ban in Russia is subject to immediate execution,” said judge Oleg Nefedow. The Taliban have been on the terrorist list in Russia since 2003.
