Donald Trump negotiates with Putin. Meanwhile, its army is targeting civilians in Ukraine. For the US president, his own impotence becomes a problem.

The recent attacks on civilians in Ukraine could be a direct result of the ongoing negotiations of the US government with the Kremlin. “Maybe Russia is adhering to the agreement of no longer attacking the Ukrainian energy infrastructure. And shoots with rockets that used to have a power plant,” says Christian Mölling, security expert at the Brussels Thinktank “European Policy Center” in the latest edition of the star s “Die Lage – International”. On Palm Sunday, 34 civilians were killed in a double strike with rockets on church goers in the city of Sumy in the northeast of Ukraine. It was the hardest known attack on civilians since the beginning of the war.
Possibly, according to Mölling, the attack on Sumy also had much greater destruction. There are indications that Ukraine had planned a parade in honor of military veterans there on Palm Sunday. The question of whether it is a good idea to set such a parade without sufficient air defense within range of Russian rockets, but does not change the perfidy of the attack. “The goal was to produce maximum damage to the greatest possible number of deaths among the civilian population.” This was also indicated by the second shots against helpers and a train station where evacuation trains arrived after the first attack, says the security expert.
Donald Trump has US troops moved to the Middle East
The US President, whose declared goal is to end the Ukraine War quickly, looks helpful and powerless in the face of increasing violence. “Trump has just realized that he has climbed totally. The thing is growing over his head,” says Mölling. The Ukrainian President Selenskyj, whom Trump is now trying to brand as a scapegoat, is suffering. “This is a ceremony for the Kremlin,” said the expert.
Security expert Christian Mölling is concerned about the large contingent of bombers, rockets and aircraft carriers that the United States has moved to the Middle East in recent weeks. “It looks as if an attack on the Huthi rebels in Yemen is imminent” with massive support from the air through the USA. However, because US doors had to mark goals on the ground, there were considerable risks. “If such a mission fails, the United States is deeper than before.”
