Since the Bundestag election, it has been clear that the reign of Greens Minister Habeck ends. What does he do with his MP mandate?
The outgoing Minister of Economic Affairs and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck (Greens) wants to get involved in foreign policy, according to his faction management. “We are currently constituting the parliamentary group, and Robert Habeck will take care of the relationship between Germany-USA in the future-in consultation with us,” said Green Group leader Britta Haßelmann. “The importance of this relationship is obvious.”
The “Spiegel” had reported, citing party circles, Habeck only wanted to belong to the Bundestag until the summer break. Haßelmann said to a possible withdrawal from Parliament: “No, we cannot confirm that. It has not been discussed that Robert Habeck will return his mandate before the summer.” She emphasized: “We always said Robert Habeck that we are very happy when he stays a member of our faction.”
