USA: Thousands demonstrate against Donald Trump’s policy

In the United States, thousands of people have again protested against President Donald Trump and his politics. Two weeks after the biggest protests since Trump’s return to the White House, there were demonstrations in New York, Washington and many other cities across the country on Saturday.

During a protest in New York, people held posters with inscriptions such as “no kings in America” ​​and “opposed the tyranny”. Many also protested against Trump’s deportation policy and chanted with a view to the US immigration authority ICE involved in the rigorous approach to migrants without a residence permit: “No ICE, no fear, immigrants are welcome here.”

“We are in great danger,” said 73-year-old demonstrator Kathy Valy, whose parents survived the Holocaust. It compared the beginning of Trump’s second term with the seizure of power of the National Socialists in Germany in 1933. However, Trump is “much more stupid than Hitler or the other fascists,” said Valy. “He is manipulated and his own team is split.”

In Washington, the impending constitutional crisis in the USA was also an issue. The 41-year-old Benjamin Douglas accused Trump a “direct attack on the idea of ​​the rule of law”.

There were also protests in many other cities. According to the organizers, a total of around 400 demonstrations were planned. In the state of Texas there was a small rally in the coastal city of Galveston. “This is my fourth demo. Usually I would sit back and wait for the next elections,” said 63-year-old Patsy Oliver. “We can’t do that now. We have already lost too much.”

In the state of California, several hundred trump opponents gathered on a beach in San Francisco. The newspaper “San Francisco Chronicle” published a photo of the demonstrators who formed a large circle and the words “Impeach + Remove” (“Unsency and replace the office”).

The demonstrations two weeks ago were the greatest protests against Trump with tens of thousands of participants since he took office in January. However, it was far fewer demonstrators than after Trump’s first take office in 2017, when a large -scale rally in Washington with the name Women’s March had taken part in half a million people alone.
