The head of the Israeli domestic intelligence agency claims that Netanyahu instructed him to spy political opponents. Netanyahu, in turn, criticizes the shin.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is said to have asked the secret service to spy on political opponents.
This emerges from an affidavit that the secret service boss Ronen Bar presented the Supreme Court on Monday. Accordingly, the head of the domestic secret service Shin Bet refused to proceed against anti -government demonstrators. He also refused to take measures that would have led to delays in a corruption process running against Netanyahu. This is also the reason for his dismissal as a secret service boss, said Bar. Netanyahu’s office said that the affidavit was full of lies.
Planned dismissal of Bar led to protests in Israel
The Netanyahus arrangement of March, released in cash, triggered a wave of protests in Israel. Critics accused him of undermining important state institutions and endangers the foundations of Israeli democracy.
The Shin Bet had investigated the media because of the stinging of secret armed documents and examined connections from Netanyahu employees to Qatar, in which money payments are said to have played a role.
The Prime Minister rejects these suspicions and in turn accuses the Shin Bet of wanting to distract from his own failure by not being prepared for the preparations of the robbery of Hamas fighters to Israeli border area on October 7, 2023. The war was killed over a thousand Israelis and the war in the Gaza Strip was triggered.
Bar granted the failure of the Shin Bet to prevent the attack on October 7 and announced that he would step down before the end of his term.
