President Trump had said early on that his first trip abroad went to Saudi Arabia. Now the dates have been determined. First he travels to Rome to burial the Pope. He doesn’t have much time there.
US President Donald Trump will visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (VAE) from May 13th to 16th. This was announced by the spokeswoman for the White House, Karoline Leavitt. At the same time, she announced that Trump will only travel to Italy for a day to bury Pope Francis.
The President will depart in Washington on Friday morning and return on Saturday evening, she said. Trump had explained that he was accompanied by his wife Melania. The spokeswoman said nothing about other program items in Italy.
The trip abroad to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (VAE) had long been on Trump’s agenda, but there was no appointment. Trump had said early on that his first trip abroad would lead him to Saudi Arabia. Usually American presidents would visit London after taking office, he said in early March. But he had explained the Saudis if they were ready to invest a trillion US dollar in the United States, then he would come to them.
The Pope will be buried on Saturday in the Roman Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore. The funeral service begins on Saturday at 10 a.m. on St. Peter’s Square. State guests from all over the world are expected to burial. The head of the Roman Catholic Church died on Easter Monday at the age of 88.
