Left wants to block AfD committee chairwoman

Left boss Jan van Aken warns of compromises with the AfD before filling the committees in the Bundestag. It is “right -wing extremist enemies of democracy”.

Left-wing chairman Jan van Aken has accused the CDU to normalize the AfD. “The tactical approach of the Union is dangerous and anything but accidental,” he told that star. “CDU and CSU keep increasing test balloons, as with Jens Spahn, to gradually normalize the AfD.”

CDU Presidium member Spahn had asked to deal with the AfD in the Bundestag as well as with all other parties. This also applies to the upcoming occupation of the specialist committees in parliament, where the AfD is entitled to up to six committees as the second largest parliamentary group. Union faction vice-President Johann WadePhul and the Saxon CDU Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer were similar.

“The AfD is not a normal party”

However, according to its party leader, there is only one strategy for the left: “The AfD must not be treated like a normal party because it is not a normal party.” It is “right -wing extremist enemies of democracy”, against which they would have to defend themselves against all Democrats.

From Van Akens’ point of view, the Union repeats two major mistakes in dealing with the AfD. “Firstly, it is pretended as if delimitation would contribute to the success of the AfD – the opposite is the case,” he said. “And secondly, the government parties in particular seem to believe that they would weaken the AfD if they accept their demands.” However, this tactic has never worked, but instead weakened the other parties.

The right of right is “not a fate”, but the result of false politics, said van Aken. “Let’s talk about social problems and not always about migration”. Something is necessary to compensate for the effects of the CO₂ price, the abolition of the debt brake, a millionaire tax and a social investment package.

The party leader admitted that the left had not consistently opposed the AfD chairwoman of committees in the state parliament. However, this does not apply to the Bundestag. “It remains here that the left does not choose AfD MPs in committees or that their applications agree,” he said.

The party leader emphasized that the demarcation is directed against the officials of the AfD. “We don’t border AfD voters,” he said. The left offers them what we also worshiped everyone else in the country: “A good policy that takes into account social interests”.
