With the decision to organize no charter flights for endangered people from Afghanistan for the time being, the executive federal government leaves the topic of the new coalition.
The next federal government will decide whether the approximately 2,600 Afghans can still enter the Federal Republic with an admission commitment from Germany. A spokesman for the Federal Foreign Office said in Berlin that “no flight is planned in the next two weeks after the current status”. The visa procedures and security checks would continue.
“According to our knowledge, no other persons from recording programs by Afghans are housed in the Friedland border passage camp before May 6th,” said a spokesman for the Lower Saxony State Swiss Authority on request. Friedland is only the place of the first accommodation for those admitted. From there, they will be distributed to the federal states within two weeks.
On May 6th, the CDU chairman Friedrich Merz is to be elected Chancellor from the Bundestag. However, the prerequisite for this is that the CDU and SPD agree to the coalition agreement. The CSU board had already voted for this on April 10th. The CDU will decide on April 28th at a small party congress. The SPD members vote on the contract until April 29.
Visa is only available shortly before the departure
On the question of whether among the Afghans, who are currently waiting for a trip towards Germany in Pakistan, are people who already have a visa and could therefore theoretically come by scheduled flight, the Federal Foreign Office said: ” “The multiple security checks” are upstream.
Union politicians had criticized the continuation of the recordings by the executive federal government. In the CDU, CSU and SPD coalition agreement, it says: “We will end voluntary federal recording programs as far as possible (for example Afghanistan) and do not set up any new programs.” At Leipzig/Halle Airport last week, an airplane with 138 Afghans landed on Wednesday that had received an admission of admission. Other flights in April, which were originally planned, should not take place. New commitments are not granted.
According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, there are around 350 former local forces of German institutions among the 2,600 Afghans with reception commitment that are still waiting in Pakistan. According to the Federal Foreign Office, a total of 36,300 Afghans have entered over various entrance programs, including 20,800 people from the local worker.
