One or two days a week he would like to continue working for the US president, says Elon Musk. But when you ask Donald Trump about it, he doesn’t go into it.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk would continue to be active for Donald Trump a few days a week-but the US President sounds as if the chapter was completed for him. “He was an enormous help,” Trump in the White House said when asked by a reporter, how he imagined Musk’s other role in Washington.
Musk himself had said on Tuesday that he would spend more time with the guidance of the electric car manufacturer Tesla. However, he wanted to be active on behalf of Trump one to two days a week – as long as the president wish.
“We have to let him go”
Last year Musk became a close ally of Trump, whom he donated more than $ 250 million for the election campaign for the White House. As President, Trump commissioned him to reduce government expenditure. The political activities and right positions made Musk more unpopular – and that also throws a shadow on Tesla.
Trump now raved about that Musk was helpful in the election campaign and as a cost lower. He was a friend and he would have liked to “keep him for a long time”. At the same time, however, he listed that Musk, in addition to cars, was busy with rockets and medical technology. “And we have to let him go at a certain point so that he can take care of it,” said Trump. He also expected that this would happen “roughly at this point”. “But I’ll talk to Elon about it.”
Musks Stern in Washington sank
At the beginning of Trump’s term of office, Musk was often seen next to Trump. In the past few weeks, however, his position in the area of the President had been weakened. One cut was the vote on an important judge’s post in the state of Wisconsin. Musk fell into the election campaign – but the Republican candidate he supported lost.
According to media reports, the acting head of the IRS tax authority, who was favored by Musk, was also discontinued after just a few days. Accordingly, Finance Minister Scott Bessent was said to have been angry that Musk had enforced the appeal past him at Trump. The website “Axios” reported that there was a loud argument between Musk and better in the White House last week. The controversy was so heated that an employee had to intervene, it said. The spokeswoman for the White House, Karoline Leavitt, did not deny the presentation.
“I’m not the president”
Musk made no secret on Tuesday that he could not prevail at Trump with his resistance to the high tariffs. He was just one of many consultants, “I am not the president”. He showed his position that Trump then made the decision. “I hope that the president will observe whether my predictions were more correct than the predictions of others – and maybe my advice will be attached to a different weight in the future,” said Musk.
