US defense minister Pete Hegseth is criticized because he shared plans for US air strikes via Messenger. Now he should also use “Signal” on Pentagon computers.
US defense minister Pete Hegseth ordered the installation of the “Signal” messenger service on his computer in the Pentagon, citing “three people familiar with the matter”. Hegseth “cloned” the “Signal” app on his private mobile phone, said the anonymous sources of the newspaper. If the report applies, Hegseth would have put a hole in the secrecy of the US Department of Defense.
Hegseth is said to have already shared confidential military information via cell phone messenger, including with his wife. Such an incident would cost a defense minister in Germany with some certainty. Nevertheless, President Donald Trump holds onto the 44-year-old for the time being.
The claims for withdrawal from the opposition become louder. The Pentagon boss is a security risk, endanger US soldiers in action and have to step down or dismiss them by Trump are the claims. After all, the ex-major of the National Guard and former soldier in Iraq and Afghanistan command a gigantic military apparatus with around 2.9 million soldiers and civil workers as well as a budget of $ 850 billion (around 740 billion euros).
Pete Hegseth sees himself as a victim in “Signal” affair
The former television presenter Hegseth was able to comment on the allegations with his old employer Fox News on Tuesday. He accused several dismissed employees and media of “sabotage”. Hegseth had previously staged himself as a victim of “lies” and “anonymous defamation” of former consultants, whom he had put at the door himself.
