Culture senator Joe Chialo has no driving license since September. As the reason for this, he himself mentions several violations of the speed limit. The CDU politician hopes to be able to get back to the wheel soon.
Berlin’s cultural senator Joe Chialo (CDU) had to give the driver’s license last September due to repeated traffic violations. “The reason was several speed overlaps that had accumulated over a period of five years and led to a corresponding number of points in Flensburg,” Chialo told Focus.
He is traveling a lot due to work. “It happened repeatedly that I did not comply with speed limits.” He had accepted the official decision without an objection and deliberately lodged an appeal, said the politician, who also belongs to the CDU federal executive and is considered a candidate for the office of Minister of Culture in the cabinet of the expected new Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU).
In the meantime, the six -month blocking period has expired. “I have already initiated the reinforcement of my driver’s license and I am confident that it will soon be allowed to be back in road traffic – this time with a more conscious look for speed limits.”
A prerequisite for withdrawal of the driver’s license are at least eight points in the “traffic offender file” in Flensburg. The driver’s license can be issued again after six months at the earliest. This requires a positive result in the “medical-psychological examination”.
