A judge in the US state of Wisconsin is said to have thwarted the arrest of a migrant and thus “increased the risk to the public”. The US federal police FBI arrives.
The US Federal Police FBI has arrested a judge who is said to have opposed the arrest of a migrant. FBI boss Kash Patel wrote on Friday on online service X that his authority arrested the judge from Milwaukee in the US state of Wisconsin.
There is “evidence” that “she has hindered the arrest of immigrants”. The US government under President Donald Trump is intensifying its approach to the judiciary.
The message was deleted shortly afterwards. However, the US Marshals Service announced that district judge Hannah Dugan from Milwaukee County in the state of Wisconsin was arrested in a courthouse in the morning. One reason was not mentioned.
After a first hearing in court, the judge initially reached the open foot, as the “Washington Post” reported.
FBI: Judge is said to have deflected civil servants “intentionally”
Patel continued that the judge “deliberately distracted federal officials from this last week” to pursue an immigrant without papers in her courthouse that she had prevented the arrest.
The FBI officials followed the man on foot and took him into custody. “The judge has increased the danger to the public,” Patel wrote. Shortly thereafter, the FBI boss extinguished his online medal-why remained unclear at first.
US Justice Minister Pam Bondi confirmed the arrest. “Nobody is above the law,” she wrote on X.
According to US local media, the migrant is a Mexican citizen. According to the “Milwaukee Journal Sentinel” newspaper, the 30-year-old Mexican was detained by officials from the ICE immigration authority last week. The district judge had previously belonged to him for alleged bodily harm. A judgment in this case was still pending.
Donald Trump with US justice in the clinch
In January, Emil Bove, now a high -ranking representative of the Ministry of Justice, called in a memo state prosecutor to act against local authorities who hinder the enforcement of immigration laws by federal officials.
Since Trump’s taking office almost 100 days ago, his government has had a bitter dispute with the judiciary about immigration policy. The Republican had announced a hard approach to “criminal” immigrants and mass deportations. However, courts occurred in a number of cases.
In a particularly much discussed case, the Supreme Court of the United States ordered that the government had to facilitate the return of a man deported to El Salvador, who is now in prison without a court ruling. So far, the Trump government has not made any institutions to follow.
