Kremlin: Putin ready to talk to Kyiv “without prerequisite”

Kremlin chief Putin has often been ready to dialogue with Kiev in the negotiations on the end of his war. But there was always one. Are the preconditions now no?

According to Kremnlangen, Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready for direct negotiations with Ukraine without priority. “During yesterday’s conversation with Trump’s envoy Witkoff, Wladimir Putin confirmed that the Russian side was ready to resume the negotiation process with the Ukraine without priority,” said Kremlspoker Dmitri Peskow to journalists, as reported by the Russian news agency Interfax.

US President Donald Trump had sent his special representative Steve Witkoff to Russia for the fourth time, according to Kremlin the meeting with Putin took around three hours this time. Trump had said that there could be an agreement in the conflict.

So far, Putin had repeatedly emphasized his willingness to talk to Kyiv. However, he then explained that the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj had to withdraw his decree that prohibits such conversations.

If this fell away as a prerequisite, there could be a situation as at the beginning of the war when Ukrainian and Russians negotiated directly about an end to the war.
