Parliamentary election in Canada: Head-to-head race expected-Trump threatens

Poilievre then condemned the Washington interference. “President Trump, stay out of our choice,” said the opposition candidate in online service X to Trump. “Canada will always be proud, confident and independent and we will never be the 51st state.”

Shortly before the election, Canada was shaken by a car attack in Vancouver, in which eleven people were killed. A driver raced into a crowd on Saturday evening at a street festival of the Filipino Community in the Western Canadian city. The 30-year-old driver overwhelmed the bystanders, then he was arrested by police officers.

The public prosecutor charges the suspect multiple murder. The officials do not assume a terrorist motive and said that the arrested driver had suffered from psychological problems in the past.
