Defective detonators, false powder mixture: A Ukrainian armaments company is said to have saved on a large order for artillery shot – and that in a threatening phase of war.

Due to the delivery of 120,000 unsuitable artillery grenades to the Ukrainian army, the head of an armaments company was arrested in the country attacked by Russia. In addition to him, the Ukrainian secret service SBU arrested the company’s vice chief in the Dnipropetrovsk area and two representatives of the Ministry of Defense.

As the SBU announced in Kiev, the company had received a major order for the production of 120,000 artillery floors of the caliber in 2024.

Ammunition did not work stable

In order to save money, a powder mixture was used in the production, of which a component was not approved. So the function of ammunition was unsure. Ignition capsules were also defective. The entire delivery had to be called back from the front.

Ukraine has been defending itself against a large -scale Russian invasion for more than three years. In the first months of 2024, her army was particularly lacking in artillery ammunition. Production in the country was raised. Supporters tried to find floors on the world market and to remedy the lack.
