Right -wing extremism: Protection protection chief wants to have chat groups forbidden

Brandenburg’s constitutional protection chief Jörg Müller demands that right -wing extremist chat groups in which children and young neo -Nazis network. “For me, an anti -constitutional chat group that has an administrator and admission requirements falls below the concept of unification – and should therefore be banned,” said Müller in an interview with star and RTL.

Since the summer of last year, the constitutional protector has been watching new right -wing extremist youth groups that are organized in digital space. Many members are extremely young, teenagers or even children. They call themselves “young & strong”, “last wave of defense” or “German youth” and network via chat groups on WhatsApp, Signal or Telegram.

In these chat groups there is a “turboradicalization” of the young people, warns constitutional protector Müller: “The young Nazis are violent. This goes from property damage to physical attacks on political opponents to arson attacks. In such deeds, neo -Nazis accept a danger to the life and life of the victims.”

So far, according to Müller, it has been common for an association to be banned to have a certain level of organization, for example a board and membership fees. This no longer corresponds to reality, says Müller: “Prohibition procedures have to adapt to reality.”

Whether a court shares his assessment must be found, said the constitutional protector: “But we should not be afraid to go this way and strive for bans.”
