Rubio: Russia and Ukraine “far apart”

US Secretary of State Rubio has threatened several times that the United States could withdraw from the placement of an end to the war in Ukraine. The negotiations need a breakthrough.

Ukraine and Russia are still far away from a peace agreement in the opinion of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. “They got closer, but they are still far apart,” said Rubio in an interview by the US broadcaster Fox News. A real breakthrough will soon be needed, otherwise US President Donald Trump will have to decide how long the United States wanted to take on a broker role. “I think we know where Ukraine is and we know where Russia is currently,” said Rubio.

Trump has just appointed Rubio as his successor after the deputy of the previous national security consultant Mike Waltz – a role that Rubio should initially take over in addition to his ministerial office. He now made it clear that there was no military solution with a view to the war in Ukraine. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin cannot take the whole neighboring country – and vice versa: “Ukraine cannot completely push the Russians back where they were in 2014.”

Rubio had recently threatened several times by the fact that the United States could withdraw from the placement of the end of the Russian war of aggression. There are still “more important problems” in the world, he said. “Not that a war in Ukraine would not be important, but I would say that what happens to China is more important for the future of the world, and of course, the nuclear ambitions of Iran.”
