During his first term, Trump flirted with a large military parade based on the French model. Now he apparently goes to the project again – his birthday is his birthday.
President Donald Trump’s plans for a large military parade through the capital Washington are reportedly more specific. “The President plans a historical celebration for the 250th birthday of the armed forces, with which generations are to be honored by selfless Americans who have risked everything for our freedom,” the Sender Fox News quoted the director of domestic politics in the White House, Vince Haley. The parade should take place on June 14th – this day is also Trump’s 79th birthday.
US media reported that thousands of soldiers were expected, and armored vehicles should also roll over the streets of the US capital. The spectacle should therefore also be accompanied by military aircraft. Various ministries and authorities such as the Pentagon or the United States National Park Administration would coordinate with each other. The largest and most beautiful military parade in the history of the United States is planned, Fox News Comed Minister of Defense Pete Hegseth. At the beginning of April there were reports on a planned parade.
During his first term (2017-2021), Trump had already sought a military parade based on the French model, but rejected the project due to high costs. There is also concern in Washington due to possible road damage due to heavy armored vehicles. A few weeks ago, Mayor Muriel Bowser emphasized that the streets of the capital were not designed for tanks.
The traditional military parade on July 14th in Paris is a central element of the French national holiday. It usually takes place annually on the championship-Élysées. In 2017, Trump was a guest of honor at the Parade. The Paris Parade apparently inspired the Republican – a short time later he spoke about a possible parade in Washington. At that time he was in sight on July 4th as an appointment. Independence day is the national holiday of the United States.
