People in the sealed -down Gaza Strip are lacking in food, water and medication. They should receive relief supplies through a new mechanism – past the Islamist terrorists.
In view of the catastrophic emergency in the Gaza Strip, the United States and Israel want to create their humanitarian aid past the Islamist Hamas into the sealed off coastal area. Although the situation for the civilian population is already extremely difficult due to the lack of food and medication as well as due to the violent Israeli attacks, the security cabinet wants to decide on the offensive against Hamas on Sunday, according to media reports. In the neighboring country of Syria there were new attacks by the Israeli Air Force – according to human rightsists, the most violent since the beginning of the year.
An agreement between the United States, Israel and a new international foundation for the distribution of relief goods in the densely populated Gaza strip is about to be completed, according to a report by the news portal “Axios”. A private US company should therefore organize the distribution at several stations within the largely destroyed coastal area and ensure security. According to the report, Palestinian families would receive a food package once a week.
Israel’s military has been blocking relief goods for months
For around two months, the Israeli military has no longer left auxiliary deliveries in the sealed -off country strips. The armed forces accuse the Palestinian terrorist organization of Hamas to sell the relief supplies to the needy population at excessive prices and to pay their fighters and weapons with the income. Aid organizations recently warned that their food reserves in the Gaza Strip were running out.
“We have to be good at Gaza. People suffer. There is a great need for food and medication, and we take care of it,” said US President Donald Trump after a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Critics, however, accuse Israeli leadership of having brought about this acute deficiency through their type of warfare in the first place.
Lots of deaths in Israel’s air strikes registered
In the meantime, several people were killed in Israeli air strips in the Gaza Strip. There were ten victims-including minors-when the house of a family in Al-Bureidsch was hit in the center of the area, said employees of the nearby Al-Aksa Hospital in Deir Al-Balah. A further six Palestinians were also killed in an Israeli attack on an arm kitchen in the city of Gaza, it was said from medical circles. The information could not be checked at first.
At the planned session of the Israeli security cabinet on Sunday, a possible expansion of the military offensive and the mobilization of several reservist brigades are to be decided, the news portal “Walla.co.il” reported. Israel wants to put additional pressure on Hamas with the attacks so that the Islamists release further hostages.
Israel’s Air Force attacks military positions in Syria
In view of the ongoing struggles between members of the Drusian minority and government -related militias in Syria, the Israeli forces also attacked several military positions in the neighboring country. They attacked a military facility, anti -aircraft and rocket positions in Syria, as the army announced. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the air strikes were the most violent Israeli attack since the beginning of the year.
With more than 20 air strikes, according to the observation site, goals in the surrounding area of the capital Damascus, a rocket position in the administrative district of Daraa in the southwest of the country and an air defense unit in Latakia on the Mediterranean coast were hit. As a result, 79 destinations have been destroyed in 52 Israeli attacks in Syria since the beginning of the year.
In the event of violent clashes between Sunni militias and drusian armed, more than 100 people have recently been killed. The Drusen are a religious minority whose members live primarily in Syria, Israel, Jordan and Lebanon. In Israel, many of them serve voluntarily in the army – the Jewish state sees them as allies.
