Israel plans to expand his military offensive in the Gaza Strip. The army is already sending convening commands to numerous reservists. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza could continue to deepen.
The Israeli security cabinet today wants to advise on an expansion of the attacks in the Gaza Strip. According to reports of Israeli media, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already approved corresponding plans. According to media reports, the Israeli military has already sent a convenient notices to tens of thousands of reservists.
The Israeli news portal “Ynet” reported that a larger offensive could begin in the coming days. The aim is therefore to increase the pressure on Islamist Hamas in order to force the release of further hostages.
Netanyahu’s office announced, given the developments in Gaza and Syria as well as “the intensive diplomatic and security policy schedule”, the head of government postponed a visit to Azerbaijan this week to a later date.
Reservists should replace regular troops
The newspaper “Jerusalem Post” reported that the planned mobilization of reservists was massive, but still significantly smaller than immediately after the terrorist attack of Hamas and other extremist groups in Israel on October 7, 2023.
According to “Ynet”, some of the reservists are to replace regular troops that are currently in use on the northern border or in the West Bank so that they can be sent in the Gaza Strip. For some reservists, it has already been the seventh convening since the beginning of the Gaza war more than a year and a half.
The indirect negotiations with the mediation of the United States, Egypt and Qatars about a new ceasefire had so far been unsuccessful. An Israeli government representative said “Ynet”: “As long as Hamas does not expose our hostages, we will significantly intensify our military operation.” One last chance only remains if Hamas agreed to an agreement at the last minute.
Palestinians: Eleven deaths in attack in the south of the Gaza Strip
According to the Palestinian authorities, at least eleven people were killed in an air raid on a building in the south of the Gaza Strip, including women and children. The Israeli army said that the goal was a Hamas member.
Humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate
An expansion of the attacks is likely to further exacerbate the already precarious humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. Aid organizations speak of catastrophic conditions. For a good two months now, Israel has no longer let aid deliveries to the sealed area, in which around two million Palestinians live. The army accuses the Hamas to sell the relief goods profitably to finance their fighters and weapons.
The news portal “Axios” recently reported that the USA and Israel planned to bring relief goods past the Gaza Strip with the help of a private US company. A corresponding agreement is about to be completed.
Number of hostages still living in Gaza unclear
According to Israeli information, 24 hostages and the corpses of 35 abducted people are currently being recorded in the Gaza Strip. Former hostages reported extremely cruel conditions. US President Donald Trump recently said that the number of hostages still living was probably less than previously assumed.
Relatives of hostages demonstrated again on Saturday evening in Tel Aviv for a ceasefire. Einav Zangauker, mother of a male hostage, said, according to “Ynet”, further military pressure endangers the life of hostages. Netanyahu chic “the soldiers into a unnecessary war,” she said.
The war was triggered by the terrorist attack of Hamas and other extremist groups on October 7, 2023 in the Israeli border area. Around 1,200 people were killed and over 250 Israelis was drilled. Since then, around 52,500 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip, according to the Ministry of Health controlled by the Hamas. Since the attacks on the attacks on March 18 alone, around 2,400 people are said to have been killed.
Huthi militia continues rocket attacks on Israel
The Yemeni Huthi militia also continues its attacks on Israel. On Saturday morning, warning sirens are crying again, including in Jerusalem and the Dead Sea. A floor fired from Yemen was intercepted by the Israeli missile defense.
Since the resumption of the Israeli offensive in March, the Huthi regularly fires in the direction of Israel after failing a two -month ceasefire – as a sign of solidarity with Hamas. In the Yemeni capital Sanaa, thousands of weapons and posters with the Huthi motto demonstrated on Friday: “God is great, death America, death Israel, curse over the Jews, victory to Islam.”
