Donald Trump is not sure whether he is tied to the constitution. The US President frankly admitted this in an interview. He was “not a lawyer”.
Donald Trump and the US constitution are, one would like to believe, at best fleeting acquaintances. At least the US President does not necessarily feel bound to the American constitution. When asked if he believes that he must adhere to the US constitution, the republicaber said in an interview by the broadcaster NBC: “I don’t know.”
There is legal resistance to countless decisions from the first three months of his second term – especially against his migration policy. The president is recurred with the question of whether he will in any case adhering to judges. Trump said brilliant lawyers worked for him, and of course they would follow what the Supreme Court was saying. However, his lawyers interpreted the court decisions a little differently.
Trump complained once again, courts in the country prevented him from creating criminal migrants from the country. But that’s exactly what the Americans had chosen for. There are thousands of criminals who would have to be deported, and not every case could be negotiated individually in court, the 78-year-old argued.
US government grants errors
Among other things, the case of a man from the US state of Maryland, who comes from El Salvador, caused a stir and was deported there a few weeks ago. In this case, the US government admitted an “administrative mistake”, but at the same time confirmed the accusation that the man was a member of a gang-what the person concerned denies.
A federal judge has ordered that the Trump government has to bring the man back. In the meantime, the case ended up with the Supreme Court of the United States. Since then there has been legal tits about what should continue. So far, the US government does not make any institutions to bring the man back to the United States. Trump also evaded in the NBC interview.
In the event, the US Justice Minister Pam Bondi was responsible, said the President. He himself could demand the return of the man if Bondi think this is legal. But the decision as to whether the man will come back is the President of El Salvador.
Trump and the third term
Regarding the speculation that Trump is aiming for a third term in contradiction to the constitution, he said that he “didn’t really plan to do this”. “I plan to have four great years and hand over to someone – ideally a great Republican, a great Republican who can continue.”
In the past few weeks, the right -wing populist had spoken several times about a possible third term and said that there were “methods” with which this could be possible. In his online shop, he has recently sold “Trump 2028” imprint-the next presidential election in the USA will take place in 2028. T-shirts with the imprint “Rewrite the Rules” (changes the rules) in allusion to the constitution can also be found in the fan shop.
