Scholz assures Selenskyj “unbreakable solidarity”

The outgoing Chancellor has repeatedly reloaded hesitation in the support of Ukraine. Scholz always saw it differently – and makes a farewell call.
At the end of his term, Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) confirmed the continued and unbreakable solidarity of Germany with Ukraine. He called the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj and thanked him for close and trusting cooperation, said government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit in Berlin.
Scholz had recognized Selenskyj’s leadership and emphasized the courage, bravery and determination of the Ukrainian president and the Ukrainian people against Russian aggression, said Hebestreit.
The Chancellor also emphasized that Selenskyj’s willingness to make an unconditional 30-day ceasefire in mind that nobody wishes more peace than Ukraine. The Russian President Vladimir Putin “finally has to reply, stop his cynical delay tactics and end his merciless campaign”.
For his part, Selenskyj thanked the outgoing chancellor for “the key role in Germany in the support of Ukraine during all wars”. He reminded of important stations of this help, such as the “Time Wende” called out by Scholz, the coffee break for Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orban at the EU summit, which ensured that Ukraine, or the German deliveries of patriot and other anti-aircraft systems.
