Donald Trump’s AI image in the Pope’s robe. A bishop calls for an apology. Trump waves: everything just fun – nobody understands unless he himself.
US President Donald Trump has rejected criticism of the controversial picture of himself in papal clothing. It was just a joke, said the Republican about the image that was obviously created by artificial intelligence (AI), which was published on Friday on his profile in the Truth Social Network. It was also shared via the official account of the White House at X – a fact that Trump has now been addressed.

The “fake news” simply does not understand fun, said Trump when asked by a reporter in the White House. “The Catholics loved it,” he added. When asked whether the AI image on the official account of the White House damages the seriousness of the channel, Trump waved: “Make it half. (…) Someone did a joke. You have to have a little fun, right?”
Donald Trump does not want to have anything to do with the AI picture
At the weekend, the US bishop Thomas Paprocki from the state of Illinois Trump had accused the image of God, the Catholic Church and the Papal Office, and asked him to apologize. In the picture, the US President bears the typical white soutaneous of the Catholic Church Maupa, plus a long golden chain with a cross and a splendidly decorated miter as a headgear.
Trump now claimed that he had nothing to do with the creation of the picture. “That wasn’t me,” he said. “I have no idea where it came from.” He only saw it last night (local time). His wife Melania even found the picture “sweet”, indicated Trump. However, if he was actually a pope, he couldn’t be married: “As far as I know, Popes don’t have it so with getting married,” said Trump.
After the death of Pope Francis, the Catholic Church stands in front of it to determine a new head. The complaint of the cardinals entitled to vote begins on Wednesday.
