For the protection of the constitution, the AfD is a “secured right -wing extremist endeavor”. Does this also result in consequences in Saxony?
Saxony’s Interior Minister Armin Schuster (CDU) has excluded consequences for civil servants with AfD party book in the Free State after the Bundes-AfD was classified as secure. “There will be no occasional attitude test or a new radical decree in Saxony,” said Schuster of the newspaper “Taz” (Wednesday edition). For good reasons, service members would not know the party membership of their employees. “It should stay that way.”
Otherwise, the case for civil servants who were aiming for a security -relevant job is, Schuster said to the newspaper. “Then there is already a review today – and this is a problem for members of an extremist party.” For the majority of the officials, however, a mere membership is not sufficient to accept a service offense.
No quick shots in the AfD ban proceedings
Schuster also spoke out against an AfD ban. The latte for a ban is far higher than a classification by the constitutional protection, emphasized the CDU politician. “So I cannot understand the furor with which many are now demanding a prohibition procedure.” A combative-aggressive approach is also needed for a successful ban by the Federal Constitutional Court. According to the minister, this has not been so easy to prove.
The protection of the constitution had announced on Friday that it regarded the AfD as secure right -wing extremist. The AfD has now filed a lawsuit against the classification.
