Oman announces fire break between the USA and Huthi

The Huthi-Miliz has been attacking ships in the Red Sea for months. The United States reacted with air strikes. Now the Oman announces that the attacks on both sides would be discontinued.

According to Oman, the Oman conveyed a break between the USA and the Huthi in Yemen. Both sides would have agreed not to make mutual attacks in the future, a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said. This also includes attacks against American ships in the Red Sea. This should ensure the freedom of shipping and a unhindered course of international trade.

The agreement is the result of the latest discussions and contacts between the USA and the Huthi authorities, which were led with the aim of the de-escalation, it was said.

US President Donald Trump had previously announced that the Huthi militia had surrendered to the USA. So far, the Huthi has not officially commented on the announcements.

The US military has been attacking the Huthi militia in Yemen for months, with the declared goal of protecting international shipping in the Red Sea. The Huthi always attack commercial and military ships there. Actually, they only wanted to stop these attacks at the end of the Gaza War between Israel and the Hamas, which was also supported by Iran.

The Huthi militia controls large areas in the north of the country, including the capital Sanaa and the port city of Hudaida.
