While Israel bombies Huthi targets in Yemen, US President Donald Trump surprises with an announcement: the militia would have surrendered. What exactly means that remains completely unclear.
After months of attacks by the US military in Yemen, US President Donald Trump suddenly makes a breakthrough. The Huthi militia in Yemen surrendered to the USA and did not want to attack ships, Trump said in Washington, completely surprisingly.
The Oman, who had conveyed his own information between the USA and the Huthi, reported an agreement between the two sides in the evening. These would have agreed not to carry out mutual attacks in the future, said Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi. This also includes attacks against American ships in the Red Sea. This should ensure the freedom of shipping and a unhindered course of international trade. The US special envoy Steve Witkoff shared the corresponding contribution on the X.
Shortly before Israeli attacks in Yemen
Shortly before the announcement, Israel’s military flew several attacks on Huthi targets in Yemen. Huthi media spoke of Israeli-American attacks. The militia supported by Iran has not yet responded to Trump’s announcement.
The US military has been attacking the Huthi militia in Yemen for months, with the declared goal of protecting international shipping in the Red Sea. The Huthi always attack commercial and military ships there. Actually, they only wanted to stop these attacks at the end of the Gaza War between Israel and the Hamas, which was also supported by Iran.
The Huthi militia controls large areas in the north of the country, including the capital Sanaa and the port city of Hudaida. In solidarity with Hamas, she also regularly fires floors towards Israel.
Trump: “You have surrendered”
Trump said in the White House that he took the assurance seriously and in return would have the US attacks on the Huthi adjusted with immediate effect. “You have surrendered. (…) We will take them at the word,” said Trump. “You said, please no longer bomb us and we won’t attack your ships.”
According to Trump’s statements, further details were completely unclear. The US President did not mention the Huthi attacks on Israel. Studied from Israeli circles that Trump’s announcement was surprised and not informed in advance.
US Ministry spokeswoman: looking forward to more details
The message Tammy Bruce also seemed to have caught cold in the US State Department. She only referred to Trump’s statements and the contribution shared by Witkoff and was unable to answer any further questions from journalists. Foreign Minister Marco Rubio was in the Oval Office at the time of the announcement, Bruce said – and announced that it could “probably be able to say more about the topic on Thursday”. “I would like to encourage all of us and I am excited to learn more details and backgrounds about how the whole thing developed,” said Bruce. “Of course we always care.”
According to the Oman, the agreement was the result of the latest discussions and contacts with the USA and the Huthi authorities, which were led with the aim of the de-escalation.
Shortly before, the Israeli military himself attacked in Yemen. The Huthi-related TV station Al-Masirah reported several attacks on the international airport in Sanaa. Three people were killed and 38 people were injured, reported by the Huthi-controlled Ministry of Health.
The Huthi threatened that the attacks would not remain unanswered, as it was said in a statement by the political office of the proiran militia. Israel’s Air Force has attacked several times in Yemen since the GAZA War outbreak.
Israel’s army: Airport fully paralyzed
The Israeli army announced that the Air Force had attacked and destroyed the infrastructure of the Huthi militia at the airport in Sanaa in response to attacking the airport on Sunday in Tel Aviv. The airport was fully paralyzed. Starting and landingways and aircraft were also hit. “Similar to the port of Hudaida attacked yesterday, the Huthi terrorist organization airport served as a central hub for the transport of weapons and members.”
The Israeli military also attacked several important power plants in the Sanaa area. The Huthi also used them for their purposes. Another goal was a concrete factory that the militia needs, for example, for the construction of tunnels.
Israeli Minister of Defense Israel Katz said about the attack in Yemen that this was also a warning to Tehran. Iran has direct responsibility for every attack by the Huthi octopus arm on the state of Israel.
Airplanes destroyed and damaged
Sources at the airport confirmed the German press agency that flight operations were stopped. Two planes were destroyed. Another was damaged. A total of only four machines are in use at the airport. One of them was in the Jordan capital Amman at the time of the attacks and initially did not return because of the attacks.
The UN special envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, described the recent attacks between the Huthi-Miliz in Yemen and the Israeli military as a dangerous escalation.
Israel’s army demanded evacuation of the airport in Sanaa
A spokesman for the Israeli military had previously called up all “those present in the area of international airport” in Sanaa to leave the airport site immediately. There are several residential areas around the airport.
Israel had already attacked dozens of Huthi in the country on Monday evening. There were at least four dead and 35 injuries.
A rocket of the Huthi militia was hit near the Tel Aviver Airport Ben Gurion in Israel on Sunday. Israel then threatened retribution.
Hamas: Talks about Gaza caving rest have no sense
Meanwhile, the Islamist terrorist group Hamas considers further conversations with Israel about a new ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages. “In view of the hunger war that Israel leads in the Gaza Strip, negotiations or dealing with new proposals have no sense,” said Basim Naim, high -ranking member of the Hamas Politburos. He left open whether Hamas wants to resume talks with Israel if Israel ends the blockade of aid deliveries that has been going on for around two months.
Israel accuses the Hamas to pick up the relief goods and to sell them profitably to the civilian population in order to finance their members and weapons.
Israel’s finance minister threatens Gazas with “total destruction”
The right -wing extremist Israeli Finance Minister Bezhalel Smotrich meanwhile threatened a complete destruction of the Gaza Strip and the expulsion of the residents. Smotrich spoke at a settler conference in the West Bank and answered the question of how a victory in the Gaza War looked for him: “Gaza totally destroyed.” He described the coastal strip as “a single large terrorist infrastructure, above and underground”.
According to the government’s will, the Israeli army should conquer the Gaza Strip and keep it occupied. Tens of thousands of reservists are mobilized for the large -scale offensive.
