Klingbeil wants to bring the household to the cabinet before summer break
The Ministry of Finance is now also Vice Chancellery. There is a mammoth task in front of the new minister.
The new finance minister and Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil wants to bring the federal budget into the cabinet for 2025 before the summer break. “This is my claim that we will have the household in the cabinet before the summer break. I also agreed with Friedrich Merz that this is the goal,” said the SPD politician when the office was handed over to the Ministry of Finance. “We don’t want to lose time, we’ll start right now.”
Due to the breakdown of the traffic light coalition, the household was not decided for this year as usual last December. Instead, the ministries have been working with a provisional housekeeping since then. After the decision in the cabinet, the plans will be discussed in the Bundestag for several weeks.
The previous finance minister Jörg Kukies reported that the ministry had already prepared a lot for Klingbeil to create a smooth transition. “I’m going to a well -ordered house here,” said Klingbeil. His goal is to give growth impulses quickly and to raise investments. He wanted to be not only finance minister, but also Minister of Investment.
