The humanitarian location in the Gaza Strip is catastrophic, and no relief supplies have been going through for weeks. Group leader from conservative to the left demand for the blockade to be abolished.
Several parliamentary group leader of the European Parliament calls on Israel to immediately have relief supplies in the Gaza Strip. “We are calling for the Israeli authorities to take measures immediately in cooperation with the United Nations and Humanitarian Organizations in order to ensure that the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip provides unhindered access to vital humanitarian aid,” says the explanation that is available to the German Press Agency. The “Spiegel” had previously reported.
The explanation comes from the parliamentary group leader of the conservative EPP, Manfred Weber, the Social Democratic S&D, Iratxe García, the Liberal Renew, Valérie Hayer, the Greens, Terry Reintke and Bas Eickhout, and the left, Martin Schirdewan. In it they condemn “every act of politicizing or militarization of humanitarian aid”. “We are calling for immediate and effective international measures to relieve the unbearable humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip against the background of the blockade imposed by the Israeli government, which prevents humanitarian aid from achieving the civilian population living under inhuman conditions,” it continues.
Israel has not been leaving aid deliveries in Gaza Strip for two months
At the same time, they request the EU Commission to proactive diplomatic efforts for permanent ceasefire and reaffirm the commitment of the European Parliament for a two-state solution.
For more than two months, the Israeli military has no longer let aid deliveries in the Gaza Strip. The humanitarian situation in the region is catastrophic. Food, drinking water, medication and things of daily needs are missing. International aid organizations urgently warn of growing famine.
