And suddenly the weapons are silent. The conflict between India and Pakistan rests. Negotiations now begin – and hope for a quick end of the war.
In the heated conflict between India and Pakistan, the situation seems to have calmed down with the agreement of a ceasefire for the time being. India accused Pakistani armed forces last night of the fire break, which were immediately denied by the opposite side. In the night hours there were no more serious allegations or reports on attacks on both sides. Pakistan’s government had assured in the evening that it continued to work for the implementation of the ceasefire that had just been agreed.
On the streets of both countries, the breakthrough was cheered by relieved people. Pakistani and Indian media wrote from a slow return to normal everyday life in the morning.
“Important step”: Federal government reacts relieved
The conflict between the two countries had recently worsened considerably, there were battles on the border and mutual air strikes. On Saturday, the agreement on a ceasefire was surprisingly announced. According to President Donald Trump, the United States conveyed between the two South Asian nuclear powers. UN Secretary General António Guterres reacted to this, as well as EU chief diplomat Kaja Kallas and the federal government.
“The now agreed ceasefire between India and Pakistan is a first, important step from the spiral of escalation,” wrote the Federal Foreign Office on X. “The Federal Government has been in contact with both sides in the last few days.”
Do conversations continue to help neutral soil?
According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, both sides agreed to start negotiations on various issues that are to take place on neutral soil. The newspaper “Times of India” reported, referring to rank -high military representatives that the army leaders of both countries would talk about the implementation of the ceasefire on Monday.
Conflicts in the region, which are dating back to the colonial period, contribute to the tensions – as well as the fact that India is Hindu shaped and Muslims live in Pakistan. One of the biggest issues is that India has suspended a contract that regulates the water use of the Indus and its tributaries in both countries.
Pakistan’s government thanks supporters
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the nation at Trump for his support for a ceasefire. Other countries such as Saudi Arabia, Great Britain, Turkey, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates also played an important role in the efforts to break a fire.
According to CNN, the US government had involved an impending large-scale on the conflict as an intermediary due to worrying secret service skills-so three well-informed sources in the government apparatus had confirmed the US broadcaster. Among other things, Trump’s Vice President JD Vance called on Friday with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
