Ukraine: Trump is considering travel to Ukraine meeting in Istanbul

US President Donald Trump is considering participation in the possible meeting of Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj with Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin on Thursday in Turkey. “I have so many appointments, but I was thinking about actually flying there,” Trump said before his departure to a Middle East trip lasting several days. On request, Trump added: “I would fly there if I think it would be helpful.”

Putin had proposed the resumption of direct peace talks with Ukraine in Turkey from Thursday – but not explicitly said that he would arrive himself.

Trump nevertheless expressed himself hopefully: “I think this meeting can produce good things.” The encounter is very important. “I very much insisted that this meeting took place.”

Selenskyj welcomed Trump’s considerations. “Of course we would like to have President Trump in Ukraine at this meeting in Turkey,” he wrote at Telegram. He himself will arrive and hope that the Russian side will appear on the conversations. “We can change a lot,” says Selenskyj.

Trump: debate about ceasefire went back and forth

Trump said the debate whether a ceasefire had to apply beforehand. He then said to Selenskyj: “At this point we have to end it. Just go to the meeting.” Selenskyj then wrote on platform X: “I will wait for Putin in Turkey on Thursday, personally.”

Russia leaves Putin’s participation open to meetings
