The Vice Chancellor is asked in the Bundestag about his party colleague’s pension. He makes it clear: his private opinion is not necessarily a government posture.
Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil has spoken in favor of that politicians and members of the Bundestag also pay into the statutory pension insurance. “I would find that would be a real step, but at this point I want to expressly mark it as my private opinion,” said the SPD politician in the government survey in the Bundestag.
The black and red federal government agreed that a commission should make reform proposals. “But such a step would be part of me, for example,” said the finance minister. “I think that would make sense and that would also be an important signal to the citizens of this country that we are together in a pension system.”
The new Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Bärbel BAS (SPD) had proposed to include civil servants in the statutory pension insurance and justified their advance with better income. The coalition partner CDU/CSU sees this critically.
