Trump about nuclear discussions with Iran: “Are close to a deal”

Donald Trump has optimistically commented on the ongoing nuclear calls with Iran. “I think we are close to doing a deal,” said Trump when visiting Qatar. “We are very seriously negotiating with Iran about long -term peace, and if we can do it, it would be fantastic.”

In return, Tehran hopes for a loosening of the sanctions and an economic upswing.

Trump once again emphasized that I wanted Iran to succeed and develop into a great country. “But you are not allowed to have any nuclear weapons.” This can be achieved in two ways: on the “nice” type or in “violent” way – “violence that people have never seen before”. Many people tried to urge him to hardness towards Iran. But he didn’t want that.

With a view to his host in Doha, Katar Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Trump said: “Iran should tell the Emir a big thank you.” Because this is very committed to ensuring that the United States does not decide on the path of hardness.

In 2015, Iran had already agreed to restrict its nuclear program in the Vienna Nuclear Agreement. Trump unilaterally out of the pact – at the time in his first term – and imposed new, hard sanctions. Then Tehran no longer adhered to the requirements of the agreement. Iran asserts that its nuclear program only serves civil purposes, not the development of nuclear weapons.
