At a propalestinian demo in Berlin, there were clashes between demonstrators and the police. There were injuries and numerous arrests.
In the event of violent clashes between the police and demonstrators at a Propalestinian rally for the Nakba Memorial Day, several people have been injured in Berlin. According to the police, a policeman was torn into the crowd and trampled down. The 36-year-old came to the hospital. At least 50 people were arrested, as the police announced on the X platform.
According to the police, around 1,100 people were demonstrated aggressively against Israel and the war in Gaza on Thursday evening in Kreuzberg. There was “considerable violence from the crowd” on police officers, police spokesman Florian Nath reported. There were bottle and stone throws.
The seriously injured policeman has a broken arm and injuries to the upper body. He is still in the hospital, says Nath. The officer belongs to the police conservation and arrest unit. He went into the crowd to carry out arrest. “He was specifically attacked and brought to the ground. Then he came up with him,” said the spokesman.
Eleven civil servants and demonstrators injured in Berlin
According to the recent police, a total of eleven civil servants and demonstrators were injured. The injured demonstrators were cared for by the Berlin fire brigade and taken to hospitals. Information on the number of those affected is not possible, said spokesman Nath. Even a fire brigade spokesman could not provide any information. From the fire brigade’s point of view, however, there was no “larger volume”.
The police are investigating, among other things, for dangerous bodily harm, breach of the country and an assault and resistance to enforcement officers. The police dissolved the demonstration after the violent clashes. The authority wanted to give further details on the day.
Kai Wegner: Feiger, Brutal Act
Berlin’s governing mayor Kai Wegner condemned the attacks against the emergency services. “The attack on a Berlin police officer in the demonstration in Kreuzberg is nothing more than a cowardly, brutal act of violence. Anyone who attacks emergency services attacks our rule of law-and thus all of us,” said the CDU politician.
