As a long-time CDU member of the Bundestag, Wolfgang Bosbach knows the political company in all facets. His daughter also chose politics. Was that the parents’ wish?

Despite the concerns of her parents, the CDU member of the Bundestag, Caroline Bosbach, stepped into her father Wolfgang Bosbach’s footsteps. “My parents wanted a life outside of politics for me,” said the 35-year-old of the “time”. Her mother said: “You noticed it for 35 years. How can you want that?”

Caroline Bosbach had won the best result in the Bundestag election in the Rhein-Berg constituency with 42.2 percent of the first votes and had moved into parliament with a direct mandate. Among other things, she prevailed against the then FDP boss Christian Lindner, who came to 4.9 percent. The constituency at the gates of Cologne has always been a CDU stronghold. From 1994 to 2017, Wolfgang Bosbach always sat over the direct mandate in the Bundestag. After that, the constituency went to the CDU candidates.

In 2015, she was politicized at work in accommodation for refugees, said Caroline Bosbach. “I had imagined the romantic – give German lessons, strengthen intercultural skills. But I have experienced problems with young men and an overwhelmed state,” she said. She sees her father as a political role model. However, she has firmly decided to pay more attention to her health. “I don’t know if I want to live my life like him.”
