Doubts about the health of ex-US President Joe Biden were still in the ongoing election campaign. He always rejected the rumors – until now. Trump wishes good recovery.
According to US media reports, former US President Joe Biden has prostate cancer. As the broadcaster CNN, FOX News and the “New York Times” reported, citing his office, it is an aggressive but treatable form of the disease. According to this, bone metastases were also found in the 82-year-old. It is a hormone -sensitive tumor, which improve the treatment options.
Biden and his family are currently advising on how to proceed with his medical team, it said. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.
Biden’s wife Jill wished him a lot of strength in view of the diagnosis. Bidens former Vice President Kamala Harris wrote in online service X that she hoped for “a complete and rapid recovery” by the 82-year-old ex-president. “Joe is a fighter,” she said. He would “face this challenge with the same strength, indestructibility and the same optimism that his life and leadership qualities have always shaped,” she added.
US President Donald Trump also expressed his predecessor shortly after the diagnosis became known. “Melania and I are sad about the latest medical diagnosis by Joe Biden,” the Republican wrote on his Truth Social Platform. “We send Jill and the family our best wishes and wish Joe a quick and successful recovery.”
Joe Biden kept rejecting rumors
Biden left office in January. He had actually wanted to compete as a candidate for the Democrats in the 2024 presidential election. However, there were concerns in the election year, doubts about his physical and mental constitution were loud. After considerable pressure from the ranks of his own party, he retired at the end of July – a few months before the election.
Biden had recently rejected the allegation of a mining during his time in the White House. Reports about an allegedly drastic deterioration in his condition in the last year of office are wrong and lacked any basis, he said in an interview with the ABC News in an interview at the beginning of May.
The Democrat admitted not to have convinced the TV duel against Trump. His appearance in the exchange of blows had triggered the internal criticism of him. Nevertheless, he emphasized that the decision to get out of the race did not fall for health reasons, but to prevent the Democrats from splitting. “I wanted to put the country about my personal interest,” emphasized Biden.
