Rarely appearance by the former chancellor: After a burnout diagnosis, Schröder shows up in the election of the new head of government in Lower Saxony. A former Federal President is also on site.
Former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder (SPD) and former Federal President Christian Wulff (CDU) are part of the guests of honor in the election of the new Prime Minister in Lower Saxony. For Schröder it is a rare public appearance after he had gone in clinical treatment at the beginning of the year because of a burnout diagnosis. In the state parliament, he was accompanied by his wife Soyeon Schröder-Kim.
Schröder was Lower Saxony’s Prime Minister from 1990 to 1998. Wulff held the office from 2003 to 2010.
Lower Saxony’s state parliament today is choosing a new head of government: Economic Minister Olaf Lies (SPD) is to follow the long -time Prime Minister Stephan Weil. Because, which has only been in office since midnight, it came to the state parliament in a good mood by bike and helmet.
