Several Germans can leave Gaza

Twelve other German citizens and their close relatives can leave the Gaza Strip. The federal government is relieved that they are now all safe.

With the help of the Federal Foreign Office, another twelve Germans and their close family members were able to leave the Gaza Strip. This was confirmed by a spokeswoman for the Federal Foreign Office. The departure was made in close coordination with the Israeli authorities, it said.

“They had to persevere for months under catastrophic conditions, some of them without adequate food and drinking water as well as without functioning medical care,” said the spokeswoman. The federal government is relieved that they are all safe.

Six minor children are among the twelve people, it continued. In close coordination with the Federal Ministry of the Interior, all non-German family members would have passed security tests and the visa process with all its security test steps. After the arrival of the people in Germany, they would be checked again by the federal police.

Accompaniment by German foreign representatives

The people had been looked after by the responsible German diplomatic missions in Ramallah over the past few months and on the way of their departure on Tuesday. After arriving in Germany, the people would be supported by Noah (coordination office aftercare, victim and relatives of the Federal Government) as well as by the airport pastoral care.

The spokeswoman pointed out that Germany did not evacuate Palestinians from Gaza to Germany. The departure campaign of the Germans and their family members from Gaza is at the same time in no context on the Israeli policy of the so -called “voluntary departure” of Palestinians from Gaza, but serves “solely for the care obligation for our nationals”. The federal government and its European and international partners emphasized a resettlement from the Gaza Strip, it said.

According to the spokeswoman, a total of 86 Germans, including their closest family members, have been able to leave the Gaza Strip since March 2025.
