North Korea actually wanted to present its latest warship. But then everything went wrong. North Korea’s dictator Kim Jong Un Tatted.
In North Korea, according to state media, a solemn ceremony for a new destroyer from the North Korean Navy occurred. As the State North Korean news agency KCNA reported on Thursday, “a serious accident” occurred when a new 5000 tons of heavy destroyers in the eastern port city of Chongjin was released. The North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un present at the ceremony spoke of a “criminal act”.
According to KCNA, “inexperienced commanders and operational negligence” were responsible for the accident. During the mishap, “some parts of the floor of the warship were crushed”.
Kim Jong Un: “irresponsible mistake”
According to KCNA, Kim Jong Un described the incident as a “criminal act that was caused by absolute negligence” and which “could not be tolerated”. The “irresponsible mistakes” of the responsible civil servants would be a topic at the next general assembly of the party’s central committee.
The tour in Pyongyang had presented a new warship at the end of April, which can be equipped with nuclear weapons. According to observers, the 5000 tons of “Choe Hyon” 5000 tons can wear two tactical short-distance atomrots.
North Korea wants to show strength against South Korea and its allies
The diplomatically largely isolated North Korea, according to its own statements, strives to hold nuclear weapons to counteract threats from the United States and its allies, including South Korea. Technically speaking, the two Koreas are still in the war, since the conflict between 1950 and 1953 ended with an armistice and not with a peace treaty.
The relationships between the two countries are currently at a low point. Kim described South Korea as a “main enemy” last year. North Korea regularly performs weapon tests and thus violates UN resolutions.
The United States and South Korea also accuse North Korea of supporting Russia with the sending of more than 10,000 North Korean soldiers in the war against Ukraine. Pyongyang had confirmed the posting of troops to Russia for the first time in April. According to analysts, Kim hopes in return progressive technology from Moscow and combat experience for his soldiers.
