More than 6,000 deportations in the first quarter

Thousands of people were deported from Germany from January to March. This has nothing to do with the migration policy of the new government.

In the first three months of this year, 6,151 people were deported from Germany. This emerges from the Federal Government’s response from May 20 to a parliamentary request from the left faction. The Bundestag published the answer on its website. Around 20,100 people were deported from Germany in 2024. The numbers in the first quarter still fall into the term of office of the old federal government.

Türkiye is the number 1 target country

Most deportations took place in Turkey (502) in the first quarter. This is followed by Georgia (454), France (333), Spain (325) and Serbia (291). 5,216 deportations were carried out on the air path, 913 on the land and 22 on the sea route.

1,715 of the deportations were so-called Dublin translations to other European countries that are responsible for the asylum procedure according to the Dublin Ordinance.

Left criticizes the authorities’ approach

The escape -political spokeswoman for the left faction, Clara Bünger, criticized the authorities’ approach. “I know of a number of deportations in which the police were brutally and without any empathy. We speak that families are torn apart ice cold or that sick people were really kidnapped from the hospital and were carted from there to deport. “The principle seems to be that you can do almost everything with people who are liable to leave,” complained the left-wing politician.
