Israel: Gaza has a small number of auxiliary transports

For the first time since the beginning of March, aid deliveries have been coming back to the Gaza Strip – more than 100 trucks on Thursday. According to helpers, this is far from enough.

After the end of the Israeli blockade of all goods for the Gaza Strip, further aid deliveries have been arrived in the area. 107 trucks with relief goods such as flour, other foods, medical equipment and medication drove in the coastal strips on Thursday, the responsible authority Cogat said on Friday morning. According to the information, it is a matter of humanitarian aid from the United Nations and the International Community.

Since the beginning of March, Israel had blocked the access of all goods to the Gaza Strip. The official goal was to put pressure on Hamas by increasing the suffering of the civilian population. Help has been flowing again since Monday. According to helpers, the quantities arrived so far are far from sufficient to relieve the great need of the local people. The UN and aid organizations continue to warn of a famine in the coastal strip. The blockade of food and the starvation of civilians as a weapon of war represents war crimes and acts of genocide.

Distribution is complicated

There are also difficulties in distributing aids. “Because of the uncertainty, the risk of looting, the delays in the coordination of permits and the routes provided by the Israeli armed forces, which are not suitable for the transport of goods, there are still considerable problems with the loading and dispatch of goods,” said the UN NOTHILLIFIC OCHA.

According to the United Nations, around 500 truck loads would be necessary every day to guarantee the supply of the approximately two million Palestinians in the sealed coastal area.
