Entering the AfD: Brandenburg Constitutional Protection exposes AfD high classification

Brandenburg’s constitutional protection initially exposes the classification of the Landes-AfD as secure right-wing extremist endeavor due to a legal dispute. After a lawsuit by the party against the high classification, the intelligence service submitted a so -called standstill declaration, as the Interior Ministry in Potsdam announced. Until the end of the urgent procedure in court, the AfD state association continues to be a suspected case.

This complies with a request from the administrative court in Potsdam, it said. The declaration of standards “gives the court – also in view of the still pending procedure for classification as a suspected case – the possibility of in -depth occupation”.

Expert opinion is not published at first

“As a result, until the end of the urgent procedure by the state of Brandenburg, this does not report the high level and that the AfD state association Brandenburg continues to be treated as a suspected case,” the Ministry said. This initially also excludes that the expert opinion for the high classification of the AfD is published by the constitutional protection. The statement of recovery does not mean that the constitutional protectors withdraw their classification in terms of content.

The state constitutional protection had upgraded the AfD state association from suspicion to “secured right-wing extremist endeavor”, which became known on May 7th. The AfD then submitted a lawsuit and an urgent application against this classification to the administrative court. The party wants to achieve that the classification is declared illegal and withdrawn.

Protection of the constitution has also submitted recovery commitment in the federal government

The high classification of the AfD had also caused vertebrae because because of the communication in the case, the head of the state constitution Jörg Müller lost his post. A week ago, State Minister of the Interior Katrin Lange (SPD) resigned.

The state of affairs in Brandenburg when the AfD was classified is now similar to that at the federal level. At the beginning of May, the constitutional protection had highly exhausted the entire AfD as secured. Until a decision by the Cologne Administrative Court on an urgent application from the party, however, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution puts the new classification on ice and initially only continues to lead the AfD as a so -called suspected case.

In Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, the respective state constitutional protection already orders the party as secured right-wing extremist.
