Federal President Steinmeier worked from Saxony this week and is now bringing warning words. He has a clear demand to the new federal government.
Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier expects the new federal government to have a better appearance than the traffic light coalition has recently delivered. The style among themselves must be different, said Steinmeier MDR. The Federal President warned “not to publicly stage every dispute”.
The focus must be on solving problems and finding compromises. People expected answers, such as energy prices. It takes impulses that led to improving living and economic conditions.
Steinmeier was optimistic that sunken trust in democratic institutions could be regained. “My plea is: Let’s invest even more time and more presence to get back into conversation with the people where the conversation was lost.”
Steinmeier: AfD and East Germany do not equate
With a view to election results, he turned to equate the AfD and East Germany. “It is not a specifically East German phenomenon that people, also in protest, join other parties.”
Steinmeier had moved his office to Saxony for three days in his “local time Germany”. In Delitzsch, he found out about local problems and the establishment of the Federal Research Center for the Chemical Industry.
