Massive Russian attacks – Trump dissatisfied with Putin

The Russian air strikes on Ukraine are becoming more violent. US President Trump describes Kremlin chief Putin as crazy. Federal Foreign Minister WadePhul also feels deceived.

The Russian army massively attacked the third night in a row with great ravages of drones. US President Donald Trump branded Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin with a view to the recent attacks as “absolutely crazy” and complained that the air strikes are for no reason. Trump also blamed Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj to contribute too little to end the war. Federal Foreign Minister Johann WadePhul accused Putin of taking human rights with feet.

In Ukraine, air alarm was again in the north, east and south of the country at night. In the early morning, the Ukrainian Air Force on the Telegram platform also warned of Russia’s new attacks with a marching aircraft. The air alarm was then expanded to the whole country. Ukrainian military observers counted more than 100 Russian fight drones in the air before midnight.

The Russian armed forces had massively bombed the neighboring country on Saturday and Sunday with rockets, marching air bodies and hundreds of drones. The hardest attacks have been killed for months more than a dozen people, dozens of others were injured. Selenskyj accused Russia of terror and called for more pressure on Moscow from the West.

Trump about Putin: “He kills many people”

Trump wrote in the evening on his Truth Social platform with a view of Putin and the recent attacks: “He got absolutely crazy!” Putin unnecessarily kills a lot of people, not just soldiers. “Rakets and drones are shot on cities in Ukraine, without any reason.”

He always said Putin wanted the whole Ukraine and not just a piece, added Trump. Perhaps Putin is right with it, “but if he does it, it will lead to Russia’s demise!” Trump emphasized that he always had a very good relationship with Putin, “but something happened to him”.

At the same time, Trump also reproached Selenskyj. He does not do his country a favor when he speaks as he does. “Everything that comes from his mouth causes problems, I don’t like that, and that should stop,” wrote Trump.

Trump had previously told journalists that he was not happy with what Putin was doing. “He kills a lot of people. And I don’t know what happened to hell with Putin. I know him for a long time.” When asked by a journalist, whether he is also considering new sanctions against Russia, Trump said: “Absolutely, he kills many people, I don’t know what’s wrong with him.”

Trump wants to reach an end to the fights – but critics accuse him of not putting enough pressure on Russia.

Kellogg: “Stop killing”

Following Trump’s idea, Selenskyj suggests an unconditional 30-day ceasefire to create space for negotiations. Putin has not yet been ready for this. It insists on conditions that are certain that it will not accept Ukraine. Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian attack war for more than three years.

The US special representative for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, also condemned these hardest attacks in the past few months. “The indiscriminately killing of women and children at night in their houses is a clear violation of the Geneva Peace Protocols of 1977, which serve the protection of innocent,” wrote the former general on the platform X. “These attacks are shameful. Stopping the killing now.”

WadePhul: Russian attacks Affront also against Trump

Federal Foreign Minister WadePhul sees the allies of the attacked country in the efforts for a ceasefire by Putin. “Putin steps on human rights with feet, which is also an affront against US President Donald Trump,” said the CDU politician in the ARD program “Report from Berlin”. Trump tried very hard to get Putin at the negotiating table – “and now this reaction”.

WadePhul continued to see that Putin does not want peace. “He wants to continue the war and we are not allowed to allow him.” Therefore, further sanctions would be prepared and decided in the European framework. “There will be a clear reaction of the West and I also think of the United States of America.”

Russian attacks on Ukraine

As the Ukrainian Air Force announced at night, Russian drones attacked the port city of Odessa from the Black Sea. In the city of Charkiw in the east of the country, series of strong explosions could be heard, as regional military administrator Oleh Synjehubow announced on Telegram. In many places, the flight defense took action, the media reported numerous explosions.

With the entry of larger groups of drones, the Russian military tries to overload the Ukrainian air defense. In contrast to previous rocket and drone attacks, the authorities had no reports on possible victims or damage until the early morning.

For its part, Ukraine let drones fly towards Moscow over and over again. Some airports from the Russian capital therefore had to stop starting and landing.

Criticism after a prisoner exchange: no ASOW soldier returned home

As one of the few hopeful developments in the war, Russia and Ukraine completed the exchange of 1,000 prisoners of war on Sunday after three days. There was great joy in Ukraine, but displeasure also mixed. Among the returnees is not a soldier of the 12th ASOW brigade, criticized the ASOW commander Denys Prokopenko on Facebook.

He spoke of a “shame for the country”. The ASOW fighters had defended the steel mill in Mariupol until May 2022 and then went to captivity. After more than three years, they had “the absolute right to be exchanged primarily”.

This will be important on Monday

Turkey, a possible agent in the war, sends its Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to Moscow for two days. He should speak there with his colleague Sergei Lawrow, but also meet with Putin. According to Turkish information, Fidan wants to confirm that Turkey offers itself as a place for negotiations. Russia and Ukraine had direct talks in Istanbul in 2022, and this discussion thread was resumed in mid -May.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) travels to Finland to take part in the summit of the Nordic countries. There, too, the security situation should be about the growing threat from Russia.
