Israel is criticized for the procedure in Gaza. In the SPD, some are now calling for a stop by German arms deliveries. On the other hand, the anti -Semitism representative is resisting.
Several SPD members of the Bundestag are calling for Israel’s procedure in the Gaza Strip to end German arms exports to Israel.
“German weapons must not be used to spread humanitarian disasters and to break international law,” said the foreign policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group Adis Ahmetovic to the star. “Therefore, we (Benjamin) Netanyahu’s government are calling on the willingness to take ceasefire and return to the negotiating table.”
His party colleague Ralf Stegner said: “The humanitarian catastrophe for the Palestinian civilian population and the break of international law by the Netanyahu government must immediately end and must not be extended with German weapons.”
SPD MP require the end of arms deliveries to Israel
For good reasons, the Federal Government for Israel had made an exception to the practice not to deliver weapons to conflict areas. The weapons would have served Israel’s security and defense. “There can currently be no question of this in the Gaza Strip and in the West Bank.”
The SPD MP Isabel Cademartori warned that Germany could participate in war crimes through arms deliveries to Israel. “This could lead to Germany itself being legally prosecuted by international courts,” she told the magazine. The Federal Government should therefore limit arms exports, in particular tank ammunition and spare parts should no longer be delivered.
Anti -Semitism representative Klein: Not the right way
The Federal Government’s anti-Semitism representative, Felix Klein, has now rejected the request of the SPD member of the Bundestag. “I don’t think that’s the right way,” said Klein on Monday in RBB24 Inforadio. The Israeli government publicly pillories will “not impress” it.
“But I am pleased that there is now a debate in this country,” said Klein. It is important that in view of the terrible pictures from the Gaza Strip, dealing with Israel is discussed and German politics position itself. “We have to learn to distinguish between the acts of the Israeli government and Israel as a whole, there are big differences.”
The anti -Semitism representative said. “We have to speak to the Israelis behind closed doors as friends and point out their misconduct.” Klein emphasized that concepts would also have to be requested by Israel for the time after the war.
After a two -month ceasefire, Israel had resumed his attacks in the Gaza Strip on March 18 and recently reinforced the military operations. According to the Palestinian civil protection, over 30 people were killed at the weekend, including children.
Also Spain for international weapon embargo
Israel had relaxed an almost three -month blockade of humanitarian aid at the beginning of the week, but from the United Nations’ perspective, only allowed completely inadequate help. The forces also started a new major offensive about a week ago.
Spain had called for an international weapon embargo against Israel to end the humanitarian catastrophe and the war in the Gaza Strip. “The last thing that the Middle East currently needs is are weapons,” said Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares in Madrid.
Most recently, the export permits for armaments in Germany decreased. In the first quarter of the year, the value of the exports permitted by the federal government, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, was 1.18 billion euros. Israel was in tenth place with export permits for 28 million euros.
