Uganda accuses German ambassador of overthrow

Uganda no longer wants to have anything to do with Germany. Berlin calls the reason “absurd”. Because Ambassador Matthias Schauer should be involved in “subversive activities”.
Uganda’s military has suspended cooperation with Germany with immediate effect. On Monday, it was said that the German ambassador in the capital Kampala were accused of “subversive activities” in the country. A military spokesman continued on platform X that there were credible intelligence reports that the current German ambassador in Uganda, Matthias Schauer, was “actively involved in subversive activities in the country”.
The foreign office spokeswoman in Berlin said “that there is no formalized military cooperation with Uganda”. In this respect, there is nothing to be announced.
Uganda’s commander -in -chief: German ambassador “completely unsuitable”
The head of the “Uganda People’s Defense Forces” (UPDF), Muhoozi Kainerugaba, confirmed this attitude in a contribution to X. The military personally had problems with showers. “It has to do with him as a person. He is completely unsuitable for being in Uganda. It has nothing to do with the great German people,” wrote Kainerugaba. No details were given on the type and scope of the “subversive activities” or for the existing military cooperation between Uganda and Germany.
Kainerugaba, son of President Yoweri Museveni and his alleged successor, is known for his provocative contributions on social media. In the past, they also contained threats to western diplomats in Uganda. At the beginning of the month, Kainerugaba warned that the EU “Games with the fire” after a group of EU ambassadors met with representatives of the largest opposition party in Uganda. Opposition leader Bobi Wine, who became a politician from the pop star, also took part in this.
Berlin calls Kampala’s allegations “absurd”
The Federal Government rejected allegations of overturn as “absurd”. “We reject this sharply,” said a spokeswoman for the Federal Foreign Office on Monday in Berlin. “The allegations that we have noticed that the spokesman for the Ukrainian armed forces are absurd and do without any basis.”
The election is elected in the East African country in January, and the 80-year-old President Museveni wants to extend his rule that has been going on for four decades. The election in 2021 was characterized by a tough procedure of the security forces against the opposition Ni Uganda.
