The products of western companies are still popular with people in Russia. But Putin is now increasing the pressure on corporations that have turned their back on the country.
Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin wants to block the services from Russia’s continued western IT corporations in the country. “You have to reduce her,” said Putin at a meeting with Russian entrepreneurs. He says this without any embarrassment. The West wants to strangle Russia, so the same has to be rewarded with the same, the 72-year-old demanded. He also promised other industries.
Putin promises to “free” citizens
The lawsuit of a Russian IT manager was preceded by a loss of billions of losses for local technology companies. The industry suffers from the fact that Russians continued to rely on zoom or Microsoft. Putin promised to “free the citizens from their bad habits”. Virtual foreign trading platforms also criticized Putin as a “hole”, through which everything possible is introduced to Russia.
Russia has already throttled the network speed of many foreign online services. So Russians can practically no longer use YouTube without a virtual private network (VPN) because videos load too long. Russia builds the Rutube video platform in parallel. Facebook or Instagram have also been classified as extremist since the beginning of the war and are therefore blocked. The authorities have also already blocked many large VPN providers so that the Russians do not surf the net in an uncontrolled way.
