Israel’s ambassador in Germany shows understanding of criticism from Germany. When Chancellor Merz is the exterior, you listen to Israel because Merz is a friend.
Israel’s ambassador in Germany emphasizes that his government is taking criticism from Germany about the approach of his country in the Gaza Strip seriously. “When Friedrich Merz raises this criticism of Israel, we listen very well because he is a friend,” said Ron Prosor in the ZDF “Morgenmagazin”. Prosor sees the willingness of other European countries such as France or Spain to recognize a Palestinian state: that would mean rewarding Hamas after the massacre. “Then we have big questions.”
Israel decided to wipe out Hamas
Merz had said on Monday at the WDR European European in Berlin: “What the Israeli army is now doing in the Gaza Strip, I understand-openly stood-with which goal. The civilian population is not to disregard the civilian population as in the last few days, it can no longer be justified with a fight against the terrorism of Hamas.”
Prosor emphasized the determination of his country to remove Hamas: Israel could not build anything as long as the Islamist terrorist organization was still there. “She wants to wipe us out.” Prosor spoke of a “vicious circle” in which Israel attempts to save hostages, to provide humanitarian aid and at the same time to fight terrorists – it was not easy.
Today Hamas fired missiles on Israel again, said Prosor. “There can be a ceasefire yesterday when the hostages come back home,” he added. But Hamas stands in the way of this goal: “They have made schools into arms camps, mosques of barracks and hospitals actually to command centers.”
