The dispute between Trump and Harvard has rocked up. Unlike other universities, the elite university has so far not given its demands. But: Trump doesn’t let go.
According to media reports, the US government of President Donald Trump wants to go one step further in a dispute with the Elite University Harvard. The government wants to delete the remaining contracts with the university based in Cambridge in the US state of Massachusetts, several US media reported. According to the design of a corresponding letter from the US government, the “New York Times” was presented by the responsible authorities to solve existing contracts with Harvard.
According to US media, they have summarized approximately a value of $ 100 million (88 million euros). There was initially no official confirmation of the White House for the Plans.
The Trump government had several universities, which it accuses of left-liberal orientation, with financial pressure to stop diversity programs. It also accuses the universities of doing too little against fighting anti -Semitism. It justifies this with propalestinic protests at US universities, which are no longer as large as at the beginning of the Gaza War, but continue to continue. Universities like Harvard are accused of tolerating anti -Semitic incidents on campus.
Harvard defends himself against Trump’s approach
Unlike other universities, Harvard opposes the far -reaching demands of the US government – for example to admission procedures, rules of conduct and personnel decisions. Trump’s government then stroked grants in the billions. In addition, she ordered last week that Harvard will no longer be able to accept new students from abroad in the future. Foreigners already registered would have to switch to other universities – otherwise they will lose their residence status in the United States.
Harvard legally defends himself against Trump’s procedure – and was able to achieve a first success. A judge stopped the admission stop for foreign students on Friday. However, the last word should not yet be spoken in this legal dispute.
