Germany told Ukraine military aid in the billions
Ukraines President Selenskyj is a guest in Berlin. At a joint press conference, Chancellor Merz promises further weapons aids – and comments on Nord Stream 2.
Germany assigns the Ukraine to the procurement of far -reaching rockets with the aim of a joint production. This was announced by Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) after a meeting with the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj in Berlin. Selenskyj said that it was about financing existing projects in Ukraine.
In addition, Ukraine continues to use German support for far -reaching weapons on the Taurus marching missile. When asked whether the Ukrainian army continues to need Taurus, Selenskyj said: “As far as your question is concerned with far -reaching weapons that produce Germany or other countries – of course we will discuss this, of course we will discuss this topic.”

The funding package is financed by means that the Bundestag has already approved, as the Federal Ministry of Defense announced in Berlin on Wednesday. Merz wants to weaken “the war machine Moscow”
Use of the Baltic Sea pipeline Nord Stream 2 for gas deliveries from Russia also excluded Merz. His government will “do everything so that North Stream 2 cannot be put back into operation,” said Merz on Wednesday in Berlin when visiting Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj. In view of Russia’s massive attacks on Ukraine, Germany will “further increase the pressure on Russia”.
The goal must be to “weaken the Moscow war machine,” said Merz. At the same time, however, it is also about opening “the way for negotiations” over a ceasefire.

The North Stream pipelines had been built to transport Russian gas to Germany. They were the focus of geopolitical tensions when Russia stopped gas deliveries via Nord Stream 1 – presumably in response to the western sanctions in view of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Nord Stream 2 never went into operation.
