Donald Trump’s US government wants to put pressure on the University of Harvard and prohibit her admission from abroad. But it is not that easy.
Donald Trump’s US government is moving away from its plans to ban the Harvard University from now on the further admission of international students. Instead, the renowned and oldest university in the United States should give 30 days to contest the project. US district judge Allison Burroughs in Boston had previously stated that Harvard and his students could otherwise be damaged. She had shown that she would issue an injunction that would put the ban on ice until an administrative procedure was completed.
Trump accuses Harvard promotion of anti -Semitism on campus, agreements with the China Communist Party and bias towards conservatives. Above all, he had sharply criticized Pro-Palestinian protests on campus. Lawyers from the university see Trump’s approach as part of an attack on academic freedom. Harvard himself explained that the Trump government trained because the university refused to control the university management, the curriculum and the ideology of teachers and students.
Harvard has argued that the ban would now be implemented, a proper procedure would be violated in accordance with the US constitution. In addition, according to the regulations, the university must have at least 30 days to contest the government claims. Harvard is the oldest and wealthiest university in the United States.
Harvard university without students from abroad?
The U.S. Ministry of the Interior announced Harvard on Wednesday to deprive the university approval as part of a federal program to admit foreign students. This would prevent Harvard from recording new international students. In addition, current students would have to switch to other universities or they lose their lawful status. According to Harvard, this would affect about a quarter of the student body and ruined the university. Trump has also threatened to delete the university of three billion dollars in funding.
